Ssekiriba kya ttaka Devotion

Ssekiriba kya ttaka Devotion

OBJECTIVE:

The aim of this devotion is to pray for the souls of the dead who are still in purgatory and have not yet reached Heaven. Often referred to as the “The Suffering Church”

“Ssekiriba kya ttaka” is a Luganda saying meaning that “The coat made from soil will be worn by every human being.” No exception. We shall all be buried in the soil. So we should remember our comrades who have gone to the soil before us by praying for them.

MEMBERSHIP

All Christians are eligible to be members if they believe in the existence of Purgatory.
Here at Ntinda, we have a membership of about twelve people. We hold monthly meetings every 1st Wednesday of the month, morning after 7:00am Mass.
We appeal for more people to join the devotion so as to get more voices praying for the souls.

The devotion offers Mass everyday- 365 days a year for the souls suffering in Purgatory. Members do pay the stipend for those masses.

In  case of death of a member, or a relative of a member, or a Christian in the parish community, the devotion offers Gregorian Masses for that soul.
Gregorian Mass=30 Masses offered by the same priest on each day for 30 consecutive days. It is believed these masses will release the soul for whom it is offered, from purgatory to go to heaven immediately on conclusion of the Masses.
